What is the 3D system that is used in the making of the Avatar movie? It turns out to be stereo scopic system called realD Cinema. It's not the first movie to use the technology though. other films like Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, The Final Destination.
The large scale and remarakble sweeping views in the Movie Avatar make 3D quite appropriate to create a real sense of depth. To make the movies like this film makers use two HD cameras, presumably variants of the Sony CineAlta range. Cameron used a modified version of the Fusion camera for his 2009 film Avatar.
