Spatial requirements for design and production areas for a fashion designer The area needed for a design and production area would often depend on personal preferences of the designer. For a fashion designer it is likely that, depending on the scale of their productions, they would would need a minimum of a 2 room area. One area would be the design office, this would contain space for a sketching board, plenty of space for placing drafts of ideas up on the walls around the office. The other area would be the production, or prototype area. A place which would have perhaps a large table with sewing machines available. Storage areas would also be useful. This would be to store various prototype fashion design garments or elements. A Change room area would be helpful for any models that come by to model the items, for fine tuning of production items. The references below show some images and examples of real world examples of fashion design studios. References sources:

The basic elements include a design area and a production area. Here also includes some extra spaces for storage of cloths and probably textiles. The production area with fabric tables would need to be larger to allow free movement around the tables. |
