2012 is the International Year of Sustainable Energy for all
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon made sustainable energy one of his five priorities that will guide his second 5-year term
It is all about attempting to assure universal energy access to all. It is about reducing global energu demands by encouraging efficiency. And increasing the use of renewable energy technologies. Typically this includes things like wind, wave, and solar technologies.
So the year is really about bringing special attention and awareness to technologies and attitudes to energy production and consumption around the world.
