How are roses classified?

Roses are classified into 3 main groups based mainly on their ability and timing of blooming.

How to grow roses

Typically roses are grown from cuttings. All new varieties start as seeds.

Roses typically can grow in gravelly soil but it is important that the soil is well drained.

Preparing the soil before planting is important. Well rotted manure or compost to a depth of around 60cm.

The roots should be allowed to point downwards. Beds should be about 1.5 metres wide usually.

Good sunlight is also important. Keep roses clean is the basic tip.
