World Water Day is about culture

22 March 2006
by Richard Conan-Davies

This year's theme for World Water Day is about the Culture of Water. World Water day is about thinking about how we use and treat water, typically fresh water in our daily lives. It is about the art, music, poetry, symbolism and science of water. In 1992 The United Nations General Assembly Adopted resolution A/RES/47/193 and declared 22 March of each year World Day for Water.

The day raises public awareness by promoting publications , documentaries, organisation of conferences, round table discussions, seminars and expositions related to conserving and developing of water resources.

water molecule

Water is chemically very simple consisting of an oxygen and two hydrogens. Yet lots of these molecules together can form loosely linked chains and crystals. Water is an excellent solvent for many things and almost every biological reaction requires some water.
