3 Mobile broadband review

8 October 2007
by Richard Conan-Davies

The three mobile broadband product, in this case the USB modem, appears to an overall effective solution to having broadband coverage around major metropolitan areas in Australia.

So far I have tested this in the Canberra region and it seems to work well.I tested it in Belconnen mall, Civic Canberra Centre .

Initial set up was fairly straightforward, though I did need to call the support centre and it was a fairly simple error I made. I needed to use an extra setting in the set up mode for my ibook G4.

The speeds I have seen so far seem to go upto around 100 kb per second, but aroung 30-40 kb per second seem to occur when loading up some webpages. Face book loads quite quickly, as does ebay, though not as fast as on an ADSL 2 line.

The intial plan of $29 per month for 1 Gigabyte seems to be a much better deal than the Telstra offers. Even though Telstra does have broader coverage.
